Marnus and Minette had one of the most memorable weddings that I have ever had the privilege to film. Not only are these two souls head over heels in love with each other, but they both had nothing but kindness in their hearts. Especially towards their wedding service providers. It was such a humbling experience when Marnus made a special effort to come over to me to make sure that I had eaten my full and that I was well cared for. They truly made me want to craft a beautiful wedding video. But I should probably start at the beginning…
Their wedding day started off similar to most other weddings, in the sense that I got into my car and drove to where Minette and Marnus got ready. But after arriving there it became quite clear that this wedding was going to be special. I don’t know whether it was the way that Minette and her bridesmaids greeted me, or whether it was the love and laughter that echoed down the hall whenever one of them made a joke, but I was enthralled by the atmosphere that they created.
I’m not normally the type of person to voice my opinions when standing in front of a group of people, but when the wedding photographer, Tertius Gous, stated that he couldn’t recall a time when last he stood in front of so many beautiful women, I couldn’t agree more. Minette and her bridesmaids looked absolutely stunning (just look at the photos and the wedding video)!
After filming the preparation stages, Tertius and I quickly drove to Hudson’s venue in order to capture some of the location and décor. Hats off to Tertius and his driving abilities. I was terrified following behind him when we went down Hells Hoogte Pass.
Honestly, I think the most beautiful part of the day was the personal vows that Minette and Marnus shared with one another. The wedding highlights video shares a small glimmer of this during the intro part and I believe it truly made the video into what it is.
Unfortunately, we didn’t have a lot of time for the photoshoot (the light was running away from us) but we still managed to get a few extraordinary shots with Minette and Marnus. One thing I have to say is that Tertius is a fantastic photographer when it comes to managing space. We worked together really well and the efficiency in which he handled the time enabled both him and us to get what we need.
The sun set with a conflagration of pinks and reds in a combination that I have never seen before and I really felt like I was part of a fairy tale. The hue that it cast over Stellenbosch that day really made me feel like God was giving them his blessing. I’m sure Tertius will agree that it was a totally surreal moment.
The night ended off pretty much as you would expect – with a party that rocked the world. With good food, fine wine and rocking music, the reception was something to be remembered. I am so blessed to have been a part of this wedding and it’s not a day that I will soon forget.
Minette, Marnus, we wish you all the best for your marriage. We know that it will be a lasting one.
